Un grande en el Cielo
A Great Person in Heaven

Ivan Kisic gave his dedication, creativity and commitment
to Peruvian cuisine, enough ingredients to hold his
nobleness and his great culinary contribution to Peruvian
cuisine forever in our memories.

Chef Kisic was captivated by our cuisine and had great
respect for our products. He was an exhaustive researcher
of Novoandina products, which he used to create a true
work of art of taste and charm to delight his guests. Kisic’s
studies and discipline made him interpret a unique style
of dish composing and harmonizing based on foods from
our deep Peru.

As Gaston Acurio commented: Kisic, the gentleman with
the easy smile, grateful voice and diligent hand, never
said more than just the necessary, never had a doubtful
comment or a grandiloquent gesture. He was the most
creative, patient, gentleman-like, perfectionist, disciplined
and noble one of our chefs.
Iván Kisic told us about his experience
as chef and Marca Perú ambassador
“My devotion to cuisine is the result of the experience I
have had with chefs who have deeply influenced my
career, the places I have visited and the countries where
I have studied. These studies have made me see cuisine
with a different perspective: I gather and interpret the
products, because we are interpreters, communicators,
what we communicate is a product that has a history
made by farmers. They have to get up at 4:00 a.m. and do
whatever is necessary to get the product to their tables.
What we try to do is to reach all farmers in order to have
a fair trade. I find it interesting that farmers are the main
actors and my cuisine is aimed at re-creating the Peruvian
farmers’ cuisine, recovering their history, appreciating their
anecdotes, and highlighting the trips you undertake to
know them and Peru.
When I was summoned to become Marca Perú
ambassador, I felt very pleased and proud to continue
supporting my country, especially because I have worked
with PromPerú for ten years, making the best of our cuisine
known across different countries. It’s a big responsibility to
be Marca Perú ambassador and I and all my fellow chefs
share this responsibility. We know that everything we do
does not only represent Peruvian cuisine but also the
entire country. Participating in the production of the PeruNebraska spot wasn’t easy because we, the summoned
chefs, aren’t used to working in a recording environment.
The professional actors helped us a lot through this
experience. This is a spot that has contributed to promoting
the pride of being Peruvian.”
