their gods. But in this huge lake contains countless islands,
each more beautiful than the other, which make us forget
the bitter cold of the region.
A country for Adventurers
For adventure lovers, Peru stands in a category of its
own with respect to South America. On the snowcapped
Ampay in Apurimac, over 5 thousand 500 meters above
sea level, you can perform almost all adventure sports
and ecotourism, including mountain climbing. Ancash
and its Cordillera Blanca route take us to other snowcovered mountains and lakes of majestic and aweinspiring beauty.
The Inca Trail doesn’t just lead us to Machu Picchu,
instead it now allows us to hike up to the impressive
Choquequirao, known as ”Machu Picchu’s sacred sister”
for its structural and architectural similarity to it.
White Sands
Peru is located in South America and its coasts are
washed by the bluish Pacific Ocean. It is exactly in the
North, between Piura and Tumbes, where the sun lights
and warms beaches of bright white sands and epically
high waves throughout the year, and where surfers and
bathers coexist in perfect harmony.
The Peruvian coast flaunts its spectacular beauty and it
is exactly in Lima - the capital - and its so called Costa
Verde where this dazzling beauty can be appreciated in
all its splendor, contrasting with modern buildings and
malls like the much-frequented Larcomar, located facing
the sea in the beautiful district of Miraflores.
A Cheerful Country
Peru is a country that swings to the beat of its emblematic
dances. The most representative is the Marinera, where
barefoot dancers holding handkerchiefs in the air feel
proud of their talent and beauty onstage.
In the highlands, in all patron saints’ feasts, the people
shiver and celebrate to the rhythm of Huaylas.
In February, in Puno, the feast honoring the Candelaria
Virgin brings together more than 40 thousand dancers
and 5 thousand musicians mostly in the so-called “dances
with suits of lights”.
