El cual medium es, por ser tal, una estructura general, que trasciende a los individuos, y que constituye, precisamente por eso mismo, el "esquema" que origina las formas sociales dentro de las que los hombres realizan su praxis, y dentro de las cuales inscriben sus fines. En este sentido, el médium es anterior a la praxis individual. Esta estructura general, este médium universal, en el capitalismo, se constituye como resultado de la transformación general de todas las actividades en mercancías, o paso generalizado del valor de uso al valor de cambio.
