he Antequera Dolmens Site was declared by UNESCO as World Heritage last 15th of July
2016.This is an outstanding recognition of the anthropologic, historical and monumental
significance of a complex made up of three prehistoric megalithic burial monuments
(Menga, Viera and El Romeral) and two natural ones (El Torcal and the Peña de los Enamorados).
All of them with the peculiarity of being connected among them since the Menga Dolmen is
exceptionally orientated towards the Peña de los Enamorados, the El Romeral towards the El
Torcal and the Viera Dolmen is orientated toward the sun (the latter orientation was the usual one
in this kind of monuments).
