Lustspiel Ouverture

This work was composed in the style of an Italian opera overture. The first part has a quick
tempo and flashing dynamics, and contains some virtuoso passages. It has clearly been
inspired by Rossini's music. The slow second movement is based on the popular Italian
folksong 'Santa Lucia'. The themes of the first movement come back in the fast final
movement with a virtuoso part for the bass instruments. The composer adds now and then
some motorial rhythm.
