FRUTAS MÓNICA, S.L. (Guinea Bissau)
Brief overview of project
Frutas Mónica, S.L. is a company supplies agricultural products for the export. The
shareholders have worked with diverse producers of fruits and vegetables.
To this end, they have a multidisciplinary technical team with vast experience in the sector
(partly for the tropical fruits trade and production)
The Idea
The economic basis of Guinea Bissau is agriculture for self-consumption (maize and rice)
except in cashew plantations. This is highly peculiar, for it is a rich agriculture on the quantity
and quality of the tropical fruits (Mango, avocado, papaya, etc.).
Many varieties exist in Guinea Bissau (Kent, Keit, Palmer, Irwin,….) but this country has missed
the opportunity of the recent favourable growth environment to meet the target of tropical fruits
market (EU).
The incorporation of a farmer association (AGRIECO) is a logical programme which will really
help tropical fruits producers to open up the internal market so that the food chain works more
effectively from the producer to the consumer.
We are familiar with all the fruit and vegetable products currently available on the international
market, and we work only with suppliers who can supply us with the best guarantees. For this
reason, we have demonstrated that we have found our niche in the market in terms of this
project.
The steps
1. Incorporation of the farmer association “AGRIECO”
2. Incorporation of the company “Frutas y Verduras Guinea Bissau SARL”
The company “Frutas y Verduras Guinea Bissau, SARL” (Subsidiary in Guinea Bissau),
dedicated to the production and marketing all kinds of vegetable products, takes the decision to
study the area and to take the steps that are considered necessary, as much of them as
possible, to see the possibilities that Guinea Bissau offers for the exportation of tropical fruits.
